Your input wanted on the EFRAG survey relating to the IASB's future agenda and EFRAG's proactive research agenda
The IASB has published its Third Agenda Consultation, gathering information about the strategic direction and balance of its activities, as well as the criteria for assessing the priority of financial reporting issues. Finally, the IASB Consultation aims at collecting information about new financial reporting issues that could be prioritised.
Simultaneously, EFRAG is consulting about its Proactive Research Agenda with the aim of, amongst others, providing thought leadership in developing principles and practices underpinning financial reporting and promoting solutions that improve the quality of information, are practical and enhance transparency and accountability.
By combining both consultations, EFRAG counts on drawing synergies from the inputs on both of them.
EFRAG is proposing the following projects as a high priority for the IASB:
European constituents’ views on the priority projects for the IASB’s agenda consultation will also inform about possible EFRAG future research projects, when projects are finally not selected by the IASB. An additional short list of possible projects that are important for European constituents is also considered.i) Connecting financial and sustainability reporting, starting from climate-related financial implications,
ii) Crypto-currencies and related transactions,
iii) Discontinued operations and disposal groups,
iv) Intangible assets,
v) Statement of cash flows and related matters, and
vi) Variable and contingent consideration.
To be able to reply to the IASB Consultation and to collect feedback on EFRAG Proactive Research Agenda, EFRAG asks its constituents to complete the survey that addresses the draft views expressed in EFRAG's draft comment letter and a number of topics that EFRAG could integrate in its research agenda starting from 2022. Constituents can choose to either fill in the survey or respond to EFRAG's draft comment letter.
The survey can be found here (full text of the survey is annexed to this newsitem). We kindly ask constituents to complete the survey by 17 September 2021.
