Strengthening global standards on business conduct matters: EFRAG’s comment letter to GRI now available
EFRAG issues a comment letter welcoming GRI’s efforts to strengthen the GRI COR: Corruption, GRI PP: Public Policy standards and acknowledging the significant progress achieved.
EFRAG reviewed the amendments proposed by GRI across the two topical standards included in the January 2026 Exposure Drafts and highlights:
- Significant improvements perceived: EFRAG welcomes the approach in the revised standards providing for a more coherent reporting framework aligning more closely with risk management and governance practices in the EU context.
- Interoperability with ESRS is generally achieved but needs further refinement: GRI should seek further alignment of concepts and terminology with ESRS, such as on functions at higher risk of corruption
- Practical or feasibility challenges identified, particularly for business partner disclosures, incidents of corruption and public policy engagement through third parties
This comment letter contributes to GRI’s due process and was prepared through an interoperability lens, ensuring benefits and efficiencies for preparers.
EFRAG supports every step towards more focused and relevant global sustainability reporting, as illustrated by the joint interoperability mapping issued in 2023 and ongoing efforts to further enhance interoperability.
