EFRAG unveils Draft Simplified ESRS: A European Milestone for Sustainability Reporting

EFRAG is delighted to announce a landmark conference dedicated to the Draft Simplified European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This event will take place on 4 December following the delivery of its Technical Advice to the European Commission. It marks an important milestone towards proportionate and effective sustainability reporting in Europe going forward.

This event will bring together European stakeholders to mark a key moment in the evolution of sustainability reporting. It will also provide an opportunity to pay tribute to Patrick de Cambourg, EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board Chair, as his mandate concludes, and to welcome the incoming EFRAG SRB Chair.

Participants will hear insights into the objectives, development process, key features and implications of the Draft Simplified ESRS from high-level speakers, including European policymakers, EFRAG leadership, and technical experts.

The conference will include:

  • Keynote speech from Maria Luís Albuquerque, European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and the Capital Markets Union;

  • Presentations highlighting the main features of EFRAG’s Technical Advice, covering cross-cutting, environmental, social, and governance aspects, as well as reflections on lessons learned and next steps;

  • Special session launching the ESRS E-Hub, a new interactive platform designed to enhance the accessibility to and usability of the standards;

  • Reflections from Patrick de Cambourg at the end of his mandate and from the incoming Chair of the EFRAG SRB.

This event will be both a milestone and a tribute to the collective dedication and expertise that have shaped Europe’s sustainability reporting landscape.

The event will take place in Brussels and online, from 9.00 till 13.00, followed by a networking lunch. The programme will be published in due course.
