EFRAG seeks comments on its Draft Endorsement Advice on the Amendments to the Classification and Measurement of Financial Instruments (Amendments to IFRS 9 and IFRS 7)
EFRAG has issued a draft endorsement advice letter and a separate invitation to comment relating to the endorsement for use in the EU of the Amendments, issued by the IASB on 30 May 2024.
The Amendments mainly respond to a request from stakeholders to clarify some aspects of the application guidance for assessing the contractual cash flow characteristics of financial assets and accounting for the settlement of financial liabilities through electronic payment systems, which were raised during the Post-implementation Review of IFRS 9 Classification and Measurement and through a request to the IFRS Interpretations Committee and are effective for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026 with earlier application permitted.
EFRAG's overall preliminary assessment is that the Amendments satisfy the criteria for endorsement for use in the EU and therefore recommends its endorsement. EFRAG is seeking comments on all aspects of its analysis supporting the preliminary conclusions.
EFRAG's draft endorsement advice letter is available here.
You are asked to provide your comments on the draft endorsement advice letter by downloading the invitation to comment, filling in the comments and submitting the response by clicking on the 'Comment publication' link below.
