EFRAG calls for new members of its Financial Instruments Working Group

EFRAG is renewing the membership of its Financial Instruments Working Group (EFRAG FIWG). Candidates with strong technical expertise on financial instruments issues, along with a sound understanding of more general IFRS issues and practice should send their applications by 15 April 2021.

The EFRAG Financial Instruments Working Group (EFRAG FIWG) supports EFRAG TEG in providing technical advice to the EFRAG Board on the development of IFRS and IFRS Interpretations on specific financial instruments matters and application within Europe. The EFRAG FIWG provides specialised knowledge to enhance EFRAG TEG’s understanding of financial instruments specific issues and technical assessment of proposals.

The existing membership of the EFRAG FIWG has been in place for over four years. Over that time some of the members have indicated that they are no longer available to continue in this role and some vacancies have arisen. Therefore EFRAG has decided to renew the composition of the EFRAG FIWG and a call for applicants is launched.

The EFRAG FIWG is expected to meet four times annually (or more or less frequently as necessary) in Brussels, with meetings lasting one day. Meetings will be organised so as to enable most members to travel to and from Brussels on the same day. Webcast meetings may be organised in between and as long as the COVID -19 crisis circumstances do not allow for physical meetings.

Members of the EFRAG FIWG should have strong technical expertise on financial instruments issues, along with a sound understanding of more general IFRS issues and practice. The selection of members will aim to ensure a good mix of different professional backgrounds, e.g. preparers, auditors, users, academics and standard-setters. A geographical and gender balance will also be respected. Members are appointed in a personal capacity, no alternate is allowed.
Current members are eligible for reappointment, taking into account a balanced overall composition of the EFRAG FIWG.
The indicative size of the group is 16 members.
The Terms of Reference can be downloaded here.

Applications, in the form of a CV and a motivating letter, specifying your involvement in financial instrument issues so far, should be sent to EFRAG at nominations@efrag.org no later than 15 April 2021.
