EFRAG appoints Kerstin Lopatta as EFRAG SRB Chair

EFRAG announces the appointment of Kerstin Lopatta as its new EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board Chair (EFRAG SRB), effective from 1 May 2026 for a term of three years. The appointment was made by the EFRAG General Assembly in its meeting of 13 April 2026, following her nomination by the European Commission early December through a Commission Decision, after consultation with the European Parliament and the Council.

Kerstin Lopatta brings extensive experience in corporate reporting across multiple roles, including auditor, consultant and academic. Through her involvement in boards, audit committees and similar functions, she has developed strong insight into business practices and related challenges. Over the past four years, she has served as Vice Chair of the EFRAG SRB.

Benoit Jaspar mentioned : “I am delighted to welcome Kerstin as new EFRAG SRB Chair. She has demonstrated strong expertise and strategic vision during her four years as Vice-Chair of the EFRAG SRB and is fully equipped to take on the role of EFRAG SRB Chair. Her appointment is timely as the European Commission expects to adopt the delegated act on simplified ESRS and the delegated act on the voluntary standard by the end of June. One of the tasks of EFRAG will be to provide implementation support on simplified ESRS.

Kerstin Lopatta stated : “I am honoured to take on the role of EFRAG SRB Chair at such a pivotal moment for sustainability reporting in Europe. My priority will be to ensure that the ESRS deliver meaningful, decision-useful information while supporting companies in their implementation journey. I look forward to working with the Board, the European Commission, and all our stakeholders to further strengthen EFRAG’s role as the authoritative voice on sustainability reporting in Europe and beyond.”
