Appointment EFRAG Board Vice-President and EFRAG General Assembly Nominating Committee
The EFRAG General Assembly appointed Andreas Barckow, President of the German Standard Setter ASCG, as EFRAG Board Vice-President following the proposal of the EFRAG Board President Jean-Paul Gauzès, with the support of the EFRAG Board. Andreas Barckow has been acting as EFRAG Board Vice-President-elect since October 2016.
The EFRAG General Assembly has confirmed the composition of the EFRAG General Assembly Nominating Committee and reappointed Olivier Boutellis-Taft (Accountancy Europe); Alberto Giussani (OIC); Hervé Guider (EACB); Stephen Haddrill (FRC) and Goran Tidström (Swedish Association for Generally Accepted Principles in the Securities Market). Martin Noordzij (BusinessEurope) was welcomed as a new member. The Committee facilitates the appointment and nomination process of the EFRAG Board. The first EFRAG Board rotation takes place in 2017.
The EFRAG Board President and Chairman of the EFRAG General Assembly Nominating Committee Jean-Paul Gauzès said: “I am very grateful that Andreas has been officially appointed by the EFRAG General Assembly as EFRAG Board Vice-President. He acted already as my Vice-President since the October EFRAG Board meeting. Andreas is a great support in chairing the sessions on technical topics. The EFRAG General Assembly Nominating Committee will have an active year with the upcoming EFRAG Board rotation since the first term of the EFRAG Board members expires at the end of October.”
Following his official appointment, Andreas Barckow said: “I wish to thank all members of the EFRAG General Assembly for the trust they have put in me and accept the appointment with great gratitude. With the pending endorsement decisions on IFRSs 16 Leases and IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts there are huge challenges ahead of us. I am grateful to being able to support Jean-Paul Gauzès and Andrew Watchman with his team in carrying out this demanding task.”
