Mariana Ferreira is a sustainable finance expert at WWF EU, where she coordinates the organisation’s advocacy on corporate governance and accountability. Until recently, she represented two civil society member organisations in EFRAG’s General Assembly.

She brings extensive hands-on expertise in the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and in the development of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). After supporting two Belgium-based companies in their first CSRD reporting exercises, Mariana joined Frank Bold and subsequently WWF EU. In these roles, she has led and contributed to numerous initiatives aimed at ensuring the effective and ambitious implementation of the CSRD. Her work has included advocating for proportionate yet ambitious, sector-agnostic ESRS within EU institutions; producing research on key elements of sector-specific standards; and contributing to the development of the Materiality Assessment Implementation Guidance and the Draft Implementation Guidance for Climate Change Mitigation.

In her current role, Mariana works closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including NGOs, think tanks, companies, financial institutions, EU institutions, national governments and financial regulators.

Prior to moving to Brussels, she worked as an academic researcher on corporate reporting and environmental due diligence, including a fellowship at the EU Delegation to the United Nations in Geneva. Mariana holds a Law degree from NOVA School of Law and a Master’s degree in Human Rights from the Global Campus of Human Rights, with a specialisation in International Trade from the University of Graz.
