Internship - Editor Assistant
Location: EFRAG offices, Brussels, Belgium
Period: 6 months term
Hours: Full-time (38 hrs/week)
Allowance: Contribution to living costs, meal tickets + transport allowance

EFRAG is seeking a resourceful and detail-oriented English Editorial Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in editorial processes, document design and manuscript preparation. The Editorial Intern will play a key role in supporting the editorial and communications department, particularly in proofreading, comprehensive editing and ensuring that all publications written in the English language adhere to EFRAG’s writing style.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, proofreading, copyediting and comprehensive editing of manuscripts, ensuring consistency, adherence to EFRAG’s style and compliance with citation conventions.
- Provide detailed feedback and revisions on documents to enhance clarity, coherence and overall quality.
- Use macros and AI tools to automate repetitive tasks on MS Word to standardise layout and formatting globally and enhance the navigation and usability within large documents.
- Provide support in the development of EFRAG’s editorial style guide.
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute to discussions on improving editorial workflows and quality standards.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of document design principles and experience with manuscript preparation.
- Proficiency in proofreading, copyediting and comprehensive editing, with a sharp eye for detail and a robust understanding of English grammar and usage.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Adobe Creative Suite, including advanced features like macros and custom automation.
- Familiarity with AI tools for document editing and preparation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Some experience or background in coding is preferred, particularly in automating tasks or customizing document workflows.
Profile & Qualifications
- EEA nationality and be based in Brussels during the time of your contract
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in English, English Literature, Communications, Translation (English), Linguistics or a related field.
- Strong command of English grammar and usage, with experience in proofreading, copyediting or comprehensive editing.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and basic knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint).
