John Eirik Grova is a senior advisor in ESG Advisory at SpareBank 1 Sør‑Norge Forretningspartner, part of the Norwegian banking and financial services group SpareBank 1 Sør‑Norge. He is an expert in business and human rights, responsible business conduct, and responsible investment.
John has extensive experience with human rights due diligence in the financial sector and also advises companies across other sectors. In the Norwegian context, he advises on the implementation of the Transparency Act, which mandates corporate human rights due diligence and reporting in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct. He has supported implementation of the SFDR within the financial sector, and the CSRD and ESRS in banking, the wider financial sector, and enterprises in several other sectors.
Prior to his current role, John worked for over a decade at the secretariat of the UN mandate tasked with promoting the global implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. This work spanned a wide range of topics and sectors, including UN projects on the global state of play of corporate human rights due diligence and on responsible business conduct in conflict‑affected areas.
John was a member of the EFRAG Banking Advisory Panel during 2024-25.
