Darja Saronova is a Sustainability Reporting Technical Analyst at EFRAG. She joined the Environmental team in September 2024 and works primarily on the biodiversity and ecosystems topical standard within the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Her work supports the development and refinement of environmental reporting requirements, including technical research, stakeholder engagement and collaboration with other sustainability initiatives and frameworks to help ensure coherent and practical environmental disclosures.
Darja holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology from Radboud University in the Netherlands and completed an international Master of Science programme in Global Challenges for Sustainability, jointly delivered by Utrecht University, Eötvös Loránd University Budapest, the University of Montpellier, the University of Barcelona and Trinity College Dublin. Her academic interests focus on the intersection of ecological balance, climate action and environmental peacebuilding.
Prior to joining EFRAG, Darja worked as a sustainability advisor at the French marine research company Andromède Océanologie, where she contributed to environmental sustainability and operational improvements. She also supported the preparation of the first voluntary sustainability report of the Latvian biotechnology supplier RMP, helping translate sustainability practices into structured disclosures.
Darja is known for her collaborative approach, enthusiasm and strong commitment to environmental sustainability. She enjoys working in international teams, engaging with diverse perspectives and contributing to a positive and constructive working environment while advancing solutions to complex sustainability challenges.
