Abigail Levrau

Abigail has about 25 years of experience in corporate governance. She combines a solid academic background with in-depth knowledge of governance practices. She obtained her PhD in 2007 from Ghent University with a thesis on board effectiveness.

Before joining EFRAG in June 2023, she was Academic Director and member of the Executive Committee of GUBERNA (the Belgian Institute of Directors). She was a member of the Admissions Committee of Women on Board Belgium. She also led the Corporate Governance Dialogue, an initiative of ecoDa (European Confederation of Directors' Associations). 

In that capacity, she supervised various research projects, she provided training sessions for boards of directors and was involved in board evaluations in different types of companies.

Abigail is still a visiting professor at Ghent University and Mathias Corvinus Collegium (Hungary). She is member of the Editorial Advisory Board of 'Corporate Governance: The International journal of Business in Society'.

Furthermore, she acts as an independent director at Het Veer (family non-listed industrial group) and Brussels Philharmonic (vice-Chair).
