11/04/2016 - Feedback on EFRAG's future proactive work

EFRAG provides feedback on its public consultation of October asking constituents to express views on the effectiveness of the EFRAG's proactive activities, the coordination with the IASB Research activities and to provide suggestions on research topics.

In October 2015, EFRAG launched a public consultation asking constituents to express views on the effectiveness of the EFRAG's proactive activities, the coordination with the IASB Research activities and to provide suggestions on research topics.

EFRAG received 13 replies to its consultation and additional feedback in a number of outreach events spread over Europe.

The EFRAG Board discussed the feedback received and decided that:

  • Any new proactive project plan should clearly indicate the reasons for the project (in terms of perceived issues) and this should also be clearly communicated on the EFRAG website project page;
  • A news item explaining the proactive project plan will be published to inform constituents that EFRAG has launched work on the specific project;
  • The project plan would also include an overview of the planned outreach activities to seek input on the project: a list of international organisations and meetings that EFRAG could target to present the final paper and/or (joint) outreach events and interviews.

The EFRAG Board has also approved a preliminary work plan including new proactive projects and active monitoring of some IASB Research projects of particular interest to Europe awaiting the decision of the IASB on its research program and how they intend to cooperate in research activities with accounting standard setters and regional organisations like EFRAG.  EFRAG will monitor its own Research work plan and communicate changes on its website accordingly.
