Roman Sauer started his career at Allianz SE in 2006 within the Group Accounting Policy Department and headed the Planning and Performance Management Department of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty in Paris from 2008 - 2011.
After 4 years as Head of the Allianz Group Accounting Policy Department, he took over as Head of Group Accounting & Reporting in 2015, reporting to the Allianz Group CFO. As the Allianz Chief Accountant Roman oversees the Group Accounting function including consolidation, investment accounting, accounting policies and external and internal financial reporting including regulatory reporting for Allianz consolidated financial statements and the parent company Allianz SE. Since 2020 his responsibility includes non-financial reporting incl. the preparation of the Group Sustainability Report.
Next to his roles at EFRAG as member of the Insurance Accounting Working Group and the Project Task Force for non-Financial Reporting Standards Roman is member of the Administrative Board of the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany (ASCG) and chairs its Insurance Working Group. For Insurance Europe he chairs the Financial Reporting Working Group and he is a member of the IASB TRG for IFRS 17. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Munich.
