11/10/2021 - EFRAG PTF ESRS Expert Working Groups - Large number of applications received

EFRAG received an unprecedently large number of applications in response to the call for candidates for the expert working groups to provide input on the drafting of sustainability reporting standards.

EFRAG received more than 250 applications in response to its call for candidates launched on 25 August 2021, for setting up Expert Working Groups (EWGs) with expertise and experience on sustainability matters, to provide input for the development of draft European sustainability reporting standards.

The large interest is very encouraging. The applications received are currently being analysed under the supervision of the EFRAG Board President Jean Paul Gauzes.

During the selection process strong emphasis will be given to identifying candidates with high level of expertise and experience on the specific areas and topics listed in the call for candidates whilst respecting a proper nationality, gender and background balance.

The selection process is slightly delayed on account of the large number of applications to consider. The decision on the composition of the eleven EWGs and public announcement foreseen is not expected before the end of the month. The EWGs are then anticipated to start their work as soon as relevant materials are available for input for each of the eleven EWGs.
